Screen Resolution and Pixels:

In order to understand about screen resolution we need to first understand the exact and basic meaning of term pixel. So firstly we have to know about pixel in order to understand  screen resolution.

What is pixel?

Screen of any devices whether it is smartphonetablet,  computers, laptop or smart television are made up of small components known as pixel. It is the smallest components which can generate colors. In one pixel there are three small pixel known as sub pixel. These sub pixel consist of three color commonly known as Red, Green and Blue (RGB) color. These colors are universal colors which is capable of combining and generating new colors. So pixel use colors mixing technology to appear different colors in the screen.

Screen resolution is the number of pixels appear on horizontal and vertical axis in the screen. Let us take an example of mobile display which is of 1920x1080 pixels. Here p is determined as pixel. If we count pixels in horizontally basis it will be 1080 pixels  and on vertical basis it will be 1920 pixels as shown in figure. So below are the various types of screen resolution which you have heard nowadays.

NOTEScreen resolution are generally written in horizontal and vertical form i.e. 1920x1080 pixel but in the smartphone screen it is reversed as shown in the figure.
