#1 Raja Bali and Devi-Lakshmi:

King Bali was a great king and were also the devotees of Lord Vishnu. Once he organized the yagya. During this time, Lord Vishnu came with Vamnavatar to take his examination and asked Bali to give three pounds of land to the king in Bali. But he took the whole earth and sky in two steps. King Bali understood that God is taking their exams. For the third stage, he took the Lord's foot on his head. Then they prayed to God that now everything is gone, Lord, accept my request  and keep walking with me in the patal. God accepted the devotee's King Bali request and when Goddess Lakshmi came to known about the Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi became a poor woman and reached Raji Bali and tied rakhi. Bali said that I have nothing to give you, but Goddess Lakshmi came in her form and said that you have a Lord Vishnu. On this sacrifice King Bali send Lord Vishnu with Mata Lakshmi. While going on, Lord Vishnu tells King Bali that he would live in the patal for four months every year. This four months is known as Chatrumas.

#2 Draupadi and Krishna:

A beautiful incident related to Rakhi is mentioned in the Mahabharata. Pretty, because this incident shows that it is not necessary for him to be a good friend for the affection of brother and sister. The story is that when Yudhishthur was doing Rajsuya yagya in Indraprastha, Shishupal was present in the meeting at that time. Shishupal was a person who has given shrap by Shri Krishna that if he crossend 100 mistakes, than he is killed by Shri Krishna. When Shishupala insulted Lord Krishna, he has crossed  her 100 mistakes than Shri Krishna slaughtered (vaadh) him with his Sudarshan Chakra while Returning the Sudarshan Chakra, the little finger of Shri Krishna was cut short and blood flowed. Seeing this, Draupadi came forward and torn his sari's pallu and wrapped it on the finger of Shri Krishna. At this time, Shri Krishna considered Draupadi as sister and  promised him that he would repay the debt of Draupadi. After this, when the Kauravas attempted to Disrobe (chirharan) Draupadi,  Shrikrishna kept the shame (laaj) of Draupadi. It is said that on the day when Draupadi wrapped sari's pallu in  Krishna's finger, it was the day of Shravan Purnima.

#3 Yudhisthira had tied a rakhi to his Soldiers:

It is said that during Pandavas's war of  Mahabharata  rakshasutr plays a major contributor to the Yudhishthar. During the Mahabharata war, Yudhishthar asked Lord Krishna, "O Kanha, how can I overcome all the troubles?" Tell me a solution. Then Shrikrishna said to Yudhishthir that he should tied rakshasutr in the wrist of all his soldiers. This will ensure their victory. Yudhishthar did the same and won the victory. This incident is also believed to occur only on the Purnima of the Sawan month.

#4 Indrani Shachi and Devraj Indra:

There is a story in the Puranas that during the Devraj Indra war with Vrittasura, Devraj Indra while leaving for battle told Indrani Shachi that he would either victory or he will died in war. Indrani Shachi feared with the words of Devraj Indra and has prepared a rakshasutr from his power to protect Devraj Indra in battle with Vrittasura and tied it on Indra's wrist on Shravan Purnima. This protector saved the Devraj Indra and he won the battle.
